As the Pokémon Company prepares to stream the much-anticipated Pokémon Presents 2025, longtime fans are once again buckling up for a presentation that promises everything… and often delivers just a fraction. Historically, Pokémon Presents events have been a mixed bag—some updates on beloved games, a lot of mobile filler, and the occasional gem of a surprise. So what can we expect this time around?
With the show clocking in at 24 minutes, fans are cautiously optimistic. While that duration seems modest, it’s par for the course. Still, the promise of updates, sneak peeks, and maybe even a jaw-dropping announcement or two has the fandom buzzing.
Mobile Mayhem: The Mandatory Segment
Let’s address the inevitable first: mobile game updates. As always, we can expect a chunk—probably a solid seven minutes—dedicated to the Pokémon Company’s thriving mobile ecosystem. Titles like Pokémon GO, Masters EX, Café Remix, TCG Pocket, Pokémon Sleep, and even the smiley-face Pokémon Smile (yes, the tooth-brushing game) are all likely to receive some airtime.
While these updates are often met with groans by core players hungry for mainline titles, they’re essential business-wise. The real question is whether we’ll see a new mobile title teased for 2026, potentially tied into the upcoming 30th anniversary. While the mobile space is already crowded, another lifestyle-based entry wouldn’t be surprising.
Pokémon Legends: ZA – The Heavy Hitter
Arguably the main course of this presentation will be Pokémon Legends: ZA, the follow-up to the fan-favorite Legends: Arceus. Scheduled to release on October 16, 2025, this title has had a slow burn of reveals through previous Directs and Pokémon Day showcases. However, many fans are still waiting for that one big moment—something that really sells the scale and ambition of the game.
Set in Lumiose City, the Pokémon Presents 2025 game risks feeling boxed-in compared to the expansive wilderness of Arceus. The confined cityscape brings a more claustrophobic energy, so fans are hoping to see something unexpected: underground areas, sprawling suburbs, or other zones that break the mold. New Mega Evolutions are expected, with some leaks suggesting around 10 new Mega might appear. A strong story trailer showing off new zones or major plot elements could be the kind of sizzle reel ZA desperately needs.

Pokémon Champions – The Competitive Hub
Also on deck is Pokémon Champions, a new battle-focused title that’s meant to be the spiritual successor to Stadium and Battle Revolution. This Pokémon Presents 2025 game is being developed by Pokémon Works and Ilca (yes, the same studio behind the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl remakes) and is intended to centralize the competitive Pokémon scene.
Whether or not this game Pokémon Presents 2025 will launch in 2025 remains uncertain, but many expect a deep dive in this presentation—including a release window or even a hard date. It’ll be coming to both Switch and mobile, which could help bridge the gap until Gen 10 launches.
Patches, Ports, and Possible Surprises
Given the surprisingly strong reception of recent patches for Scarlet and Violet, there’s hope that more legacy games will receive performance updates. Sword and Shield, BDSP, and Legends: Arceus are all strong candidates. A resolution and framerate bump for Arceus, especially, would be welcomed as fans prep to revisit the format before ZA lands.
On the retro front, there’s always hope for classic titles to drop on Nintendo Switch Online. Red, Blue, and Yellow are the obvious headliners, but most expect those to be saved for the 30th anniversary in 2026. What we might get, however, is a GameCube throwback—Pokémon Colosseum or Gale of Darkness. There’s a chance one of them could shadow-drop immediately after the presentation, which would be a nostalgic win.

Gen 10 Tease? Maybe, Maybe Not
Will we see Generation 10 teased at this event? Unlikely—but not impossible. While the proper rollout for Gen 10 is expected in February 2026 for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, a small, vague teaser isn’t out of the question. Think: a logo, a tagline, maybe even just a confirmation that it’s in development for the Switch 2. The Pokémon Company loves its anniversaries, and if they want to start the hype train early, this would be the time.
The Longshot: Spin-Offs and Remakes
Let’s talk about remakes and spin-offs. Every Presents seems to reignite hope for a return of classics like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Ranger, or Pokken Tournament. With Detective Pikachu Returns flopping, however, the appetite for high-investment spin-offs might be dwindling inside the company.
That said, Mystery Dungeon—especially a remake—still feels like the most viable. Spike Chunsoft, the studio behind the series, has been quiet lately, and a lower-budget project could fit into the lineup.
But what fans really want? A Black and White remake. After the commercial success (despite mixed reception) of BDSP, it wouldn’t be shocking if Ilca is quietly working on Gen 5 remakes. A surprise reveal with a release window of February or March 2026 would line up beautifully with the original’s anniversary and keep the franchise’s momentum strong leading into Gen 10.
The Bottom Line: Expect the Expected… and Maybe a Little More
Pokémon Presents 2025 isn’t likely to blow the doors off the franchise. But with Legends: ZA, Pokémon Champions, and some nostalgia-driven surprises, there’s potential for a solid, satisfying showcase. Fans just want more than another mobile update montage—they want substance, surprises, and something new to get excited about.
We’ll know soon enough. For now, the best advice is to temper expectations, prepare for filler, and hope for just one big moment that “Oh wow, they actually did it” moment Pokémon occasionally delivers.
